We are moving houses back out as the Ice heals up! I am finding anywhere from 8-12 inches of ice on spots that I have been fishing. I know of spots that only have around 5-6 inches. We lost some ice the past two weekends but should be gaining an inch a day over the next few cold days. The Ice varies a lot this year on every lake i have been on. I have customers coming in for a 2 day rental Sunday so fresh reports coming in soon. One of our fishing spots has had a great crappie bite along with the pike have been running. Tip ups have been a lot of fun. We have been catching a few walleyes locally also. The hook up and go rentals have been to Red Lake and Winnie and there reports came back with Walleye and Jumbos. This week we will be targeting walleye and Crappies. I did catch and release a 36 inch pike on Saturday. I also heard of another guy locally spearing a 44 inch pike! The guys who speared in our spear houses have been getting 2-4 pound pike. we do have one man spear houses for $40 half day. This house can also be used for angling.

The bite has been great! Pictured you can find our new two man fish house rental! Only $100/ Night. Call to reserve. We also had a 26 inch walleye recently caught!

I have been busy building our new 2-3 man fish house and should be done with it Wednesday. This house will be rented for $100/2 people $150 for 3 people. We have been making ice although warmer temps this weekend all 8 x 16 rentals will be contingent upon ice conditions and weather! The small houses will be out on the ice this weekend. I currently have one Ice Castle sitting on 13 inches of ice off a weed line and sand bottom. I fished it for a couple hours picked up a 20 inch walleye couple sunfish and one crappie and lots of small pike. I do believe this spot should produce more walleye so we will see what it brings the next 48 hours. The walleye was caught on a Green glow Forage Minnow tipped with a fat head minnow. I had a few misses due the fact I was installing a radio in the fish house. Check back soon for more active fishing reports as we are moving fish houses on the ice! Remember the 2014 Ice Castle Mile lacs is available for Red Lake trips and Hook up and go rentals! Please be safe on the ice on 11/30/2014 I was on Clearwater and was finding consistency in the ice of 7 inches on up to 13 inches and until I got on the north end of Bungalow island and found open water along with 3.5 inches of ice! Lakes are going to vary always check the ice consistently before towing wheel houses out! I use a Ranger or a Small blazer for towing houses out onto early ice!

Today I went out in search of some crappies! I found 6 inches of ice. I started in shallow and worked out to 26ft on my first spot. I ended up on a few crappies and sun fish that would not bite so then I decided to move on to a different spot on the lake. I augured around 30 holes until I marked fish. I set up and could not get them to bite. It was now late morning around 10:30 a.m. so I was thinking they might of shut down. I got out of the portable and did some hole hoping and about 8 ft. from my portable found a hot hole that produced. Crappies ranged from 8.5 inches up to 13 inches. 2 of the small crappies would not swim back so they ended up in the bucket. I will be heading out tonight again tonight to try get some video footage and see how the prime time bite is.

We Set up on Upper Red Lake for Walleyes on 8-9 inches of Ice. We fished from 7.5ft of Water and worked our way out deeper into 10.5 ft of Water. We had a front push in with 30+ MPH winds. Luckily the thermal otter portable ice house stayed plenty warm! The bite was slow during the day. The bite definatly turned on at sun down. This is why Red Lake is such a great lake for using sleeper houses. The bite is fantastic after dark. Fish that we caught were all above 15 inches the biggest being 19.5 inches. We had one nice Pike come through that was caught and released. Red Lake is making some good ice. I talked to a few other outfitters and resort owners and they seemed to think the accesses may be allowing Wheel Houses out Thanksgiving weekend! I will be heading out in search for Crappies tomorrow and will post a report from the Annandale area lakes. Check back soon!
